FAR's visiting card is a voluminous golden list full of praises, thanks, signatures, photos of

kings, Heads of States, actors and astronauts, VIPs on business trips and well to do tourists

engaged with the Italian Grand Tour.

Everyone is satisfied with such a quick, discreet, safe and quiet efficient service .

"The best driver in the world": So an american client expressed his appreciation.

Alberto Francini, the owner of FAR, is quite proud of so many flattering recognitions, all of them are well deserved, and so he should be because his company FAR has been the most prestigious rent a car in Florence since 1931. 

«A service which is not very well known», says Alberto Francini defending his job, « also because by now , there is the idea of having a personal car, but  after adding up the bills, it is always cheaper to rent a car with a chauffeur than having your own personal car».

Born practically in a garage and brought up among cars and engines, Alberto Francini 

is a gifted son of a gifted  father.    From his father, he inherited the company and the passion for a job which requires a lot of inconceivable skills.

Competence, punctuality, cortesy, efficiency, but also amiability, patience, presence of mind, ready for any contingencies, always having a solution for every situation. 

All these qualities are in Alberto Francini and in his staff.   His chauffeurs are perfect polyglot drivers and, without taking the place of tourist guide, know the arts and history of many italian towns. 

Driving Lancia Thema or Mercedes, Cadillac or Rolls Royce - the fleet of  FAR is composed by 15 buses and cars, obviously blue or black metallic, with air conditioning, radio-telephone, telephone - they take visiting Heads of States or footballers, noble ladies and rock band groups.

For some hours or for a week, for a drive around the city or for a thousand kilometers trip.   For FAR, it is imperative to satisfy the most complex demands, the most impossible requests and the most difficult clients.    By now, since many years,  the most frequent clients of FAR are from large firms, banks and small local organizations like the local Town or District Councils  which, although having their own cars have not a third party insurance, as on the contrary, the rent a car companies have.

So in the cars of FAR sat Prince Charles and Lady D, Prime Ministers Craxi and  Thatcher, Mitterand and Nakasone, Cardinal Glemp and Mother Teresa of Calcutta, Princess Margaret at the opening of Henry Moore's exhibition and Gregory Peck at Ferragamo fashion parade, but many less known travellers get the same treatment that FAR gives to it's most famous and important clients.

All of them left their marks in the golden guest book, where we read thanks in every languages, even in arab and chinese.  

- In 1932 a french lady - one of the former clients - affirms to have travelled « avec confort, sécurité, tranquillité »   

- The following year a peruvian gentleman declared  «Using FAR means to leave with tranquillity and to return very pleased and satisfied».

- in 1980 two journalists from Virginia, thanking Alberto Francini « for his patience, good humour, competence and skill » , promising to recommend the "florentine speedy gonzales" to all their american friends visting Italy.

In short, fifty years of unexceptionable service and of deserved praises.  There also have been  moments of glory:  the Far cars appeared in movies like "Amici Miei", "Venti di Guerra" and "Lo Scialo".   Signed photos by Robert Mitchum, Eleonora Giorgi and Franco Rossi, bears witness to that and not to mention  the hundreds of newly-wed couples who at least one day in their life have felt the ecstasy of travelling in Cadillac or Rolls. 

Far's services are practically endless.  Ruggero Orlando  expressed his thanks for a speedy drive from Malpensa to Villa La Massa, as well as some american journalists for a tour through Chianti castles and vineyards.   A florentine noble lady,  was really pleased for a trip which was done in record time, from Florence to Catanzaro with an unscheduled stop at Positano on her way home.

Just think a little of how many times you would have liked to have such a service, but simply didn't know how to go about it or simply didn't enter your mind.
